Almost seven years after financier Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide in a New York cell (a suicide that no one believes), the Department of Justice made the files found in his devices and offices available to the public: three million pages, 180,000 images, and 2,000 videos. Since January 30, millions of Americans have been digging through this mountain of documents to search for and identify the partners, clients, and friends of this mysterious financier, who in 2008 benefited from a deal in Florida with two prosecutors to avoid trial for soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl.
To obtain the declassification of the Epstein files, Republican and Democratic members of Congress almost unanimously approved the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was later signed into law by Donald Trump. According to this act, the Department of Justice had until December 19 to release them. To delay publication, officials relied on the need to redact the identities of the victims—something that has not been done correctly, as lawyers for some of the victims have lamented.
High-ranking Department officials appointed by Trump have stated that there is no « Epstein list » consisting of individuals who attended orgies with teenagers on his Caribbean island; they also claimed that the publication is complete. Epstein’s partner and accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell (daughter of media mogul Robert Maxwell), was tried and sentenced to 20 years for crimes including child prostitution and human trafficking, which she is currently serving. One of the victims’ lawyers estimates that Epstein and Maxwell abused at least five hundred girls.
Many of these messages amount to nothing more than gossip or even grandstanding. The fact that Epstein mentioned a person in an email does not mean they partied in his brothels or were blackmailed by him. In other cases, the links are undeniable.
Influential Names and Troubling Ties
Among the names, several politicians who governed their countries emerge, such as Britain’s Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, Israel’s Ehud Barak, and Colombia’s Andrés Pastrana… Regarding the lecherous Bill Clinton, seventeen visits to the « brothel-island » were already known, despite which he participated in the 2024 Democratic Party campaign as a fundraiser.
A French banker, Ariane de Rothschild, wrote to Epstein asking him for a free ticket to a concert. Furthermore, in 2018, in an electronic conversation, they discussed the paradox of Adolf Hitler living in Vienna before World War I in a homeless shelter maintained by three wealthy Jewish families: the Gutmanns, the Epsteins, and the Rothschilds.
In this mountain of words, some claim to find plans to invade countries like Iran and Syria; centuries-old conspiracies; plans to do business in Ukraine; human sacrifices accompanied by cannibalism; the CIA and Mossad creating ISIS and Al-Qaeda; etc.
Given Epstein’s sexual tastes and his circle, as well as its breadth, the Mexican filmmaker [Eduardo Verástegui] wrote on X: « Now I understand why some in Mexico turned their backs on us with the film Sound of Freedom, » which denounces child trafficking carried out by pedophile networks with accomplices in the police and courts of several countries. Incidentally, one of the providers of Russian prostitutes for Epstein was a Russian agency that participated in the organization of the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
The Global Elite Under Scrutiny
One of the most venerable patriarchs of the global left, the nonagenarian linguist Noam Chomsky—a critic of capitalism and defender of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez—traveled on one of Epstein’s private planes and stayed at his New York residence. Bill Gates, who has spent a fortune to buy the good reputation that still adorns him, contracted a sexually transmitted disease from a young Russian woman and asked his friend, according to an email from the latter, to obtain antibiotics for him to give to Melinda Gates in secret.
There are photos of Chomsky with Epstein proving that relationship. However, Gates, whose friendship with the pedophile was one of the reasons cited by Melinda for divorcing in 2021, has denied these claims.
Peter Mandelson, one of the most important ministers under Blair and Brown, maintained a close relationship with Epstein, whom he described as a « best friend » in 2003. Photos of him in his underwear alongside a young woman (even though Mandelson is gay) have been published, taken at the pedophile’s apartment in Paris. It has also been revealed that Mandelson leaked confidential documents to Epstein, such as a 2009 government plan on tax measures.
Jack Lang, a French Socialist politician who served as a minister several times and has called for the decriminalization of pedophilia, befriended Epstein. In 2019, while Epstein was already under investigation, Lang accompanied him to the Élysée, President Macron’s residence. Caroline Lang, Jack’s daughter, established an offshore company in the Virgin Islands with Epstein in 2016.
Consequences and Media Silence
The impact of the Epstein papers is proving so great that Bill and Hillary Clinton have now agreed to appear before the House Committee investigating the pedophile financier, after six months of refusing to do so. Peggy Siegal, a prominent Hollywood PR expert, offered Epstein in a 2009 email « a baby… or two. Boy or girl? Just like Madonna. » As soon as the email became known, several clients broke their contracts with her. Caroline Lang has resigned from the presidency of a film producers’ association. There may even be arrests in the US.
The « prestige » media in Spain have barely paid attention to the content of the documents and videos, as if they were waiting for permission or instructions to inform their audiences of what those with an X account or access to the Fox or CNN websites already know.
In an example of hypocrisy, the first reports published by El País were about Norway’s Mette-Marit, who slept several times in one of Epstein’s houses, and about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson. That is, figures already in disgrace and forced to endure all attacks. Regarding the truly powerful, the global newspaper has drawn a thick curtain. How can El País reveal the vices of the plutocrat Gates, whom it has presented for decades as a philanthropist for his promotion of vaccines and his fight against climate change, when it has published for years a section paid for by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation?
Conclusion
The « Epstein papers » describe the conduct of part of the global elite—those who decide our lives and assets. Numerous politicians, financiers, ambassadors, executives, producers, and editors turned to a « fixer » like Epstein to ask for recommendations, favors, money, sex, drugs… What were he and Ghislaine Maxwell doing with all the information they obtained? Becoming even richer? Were they sharing it with secret services in the United States or other countries?
These documents constitute the latest blow in a series that, since the 2003 invasion of Iraq and the great crisis of 2008, are turning the legitimacy of Western democracies into dust. The rift between the people and the elite continues to grow, and it is unknown how it can be repaired.
